Rumors about a successor to Apple's popular iPhone SE are Pachinko Angelheating up again.
According to MacRumors, well-known analyst Ming-Chi Kuo claims that the long-awaited "iPhone SE 2" could see a release in the first quarter of 2020 (perhaps alongside the highly anticipated new AirPods).
Kuo says the new SE 2 will be physically similar to the iPhone 8, which was released in the fall of 2017, but feature 3GB of RAM and the same A13 Bionic chip in the new iPhone 11 models. For reference, the iPhone 8 had 2 GB of RAM while the iPhone 11 reportedly has 4 GB.
One other tidbit from Kuo: the iPhone SE 2, if that winds up being its actual name, will likely feature Touch ID. Kuo also anticipates the SE 2 will be targeted toward happy iPhone 6 and 6S users who, despite their happiness, suddenly find themselves with a phone that can no longer support the latest version of iOS.
SEE ALSO: Next year’s iPhone will reportedly be similar to iPhone 4The new report is very similar to reports that hit the web in September which claimed the new mid-range iPhone would be modeled after the iPhone 8. Those reports also said the new phone would likely have 128 GB of memory, a single lens camera, and an LCD display.
The original iPhone SE proved popular enough that Apple sold the phone again for a time in early 2019 in its clearance section.
