The news organization tweeted about comments Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton made the night earlier and an ensuing statement.

On Saturday, Clinton walked back from those comments.
"Last night I was 'grossly generalistic,' and that's never a good idea. I regret saying 'half;' that was wrong," Clinton said in a statement.
The AP tweeted about Clinton's Saturday statement, but didn't clarify that Clinton had said she regretted characterizing "half" of Trump supporters that way.
In line with its stringent editorial standards, the news organization tweeted explaining its decision.
