Johnson's story actually broke this weekend. It gained surprisingly little attention but caught our eyes Tuesday on Twitter, three days after AZCentral.com published its profile on the player. Here are three of the main takeaways.
He's a 6-foot-4, 225-pound defensive end who had scholarship offers from colleges far and wide.
When he told the Arizona assistant recruiting him about his sexual orientation, Johnson received the simple reply he was hoping for: "We want you to be a Wildcat."
He says he knows his history-making status "could put a target on my back. But whatever."
The same day AZCentral.com's story on Johnson broke, he posted his tweet saying he's "just here to play football." The replies to that tweet, however, show he's already amassed a loyal fan fallowing before playing a down in college.
