It can get confusing parsing through the love story that is Bieber and Gomez's (also known fondly as Jelena). So, here's a handy breakdown of what exactly what we know—but before we get to the bike ride tweeted 'round the world, we need to start back in August 2017.

Okay, we don't needto, but that's when Bieber, with the help of Bloodpop, returned to the radio with "Friends"—the first new song from the pop star since 2015's Purpose.

Sure, these lyrics could probably apply to any of Bieber's exes, but let's pretend for the sake of this future rom-com plotline that Beiber's is pining through his preferred medium: song. (We already kind of know he's the publicly pining kind.)

When the relationship between Gomez and Bieber ended for the second time in 2014, fans were left a bit confused with the are they together or nah?type of stories that cropped up in headlines over the years. Between Bieber posting random throwback photos of the two of them, Gomez apologetically refusing to talk about him in a Rolling Stoneinterview, and their biting back-and-forth comments on Instagram, no one knew where Jelena stood at any given day. Drake even got confused at one point.

In a plot twist no one saw coming, Gomez linked up with Abel Tesfaye/The Weeknd at the start of the trash-fire year that is 2017. Bieber, of course, found ways to be petty about the courtship.

But in recent weeks, Bieber and Gomez have been spotted galavanting with each other according to TMZ.

First, they were spotted eating breakfast together before they headed to a church service (most likely Hillsong) and hanging till night.

Peoplebroke the news about the split between Tesfaye and Gomez, not even a full day after the photos of breakfast circulated online.

Then there was a heavily photographed and videoed bike ride. But that wasn't the only tantalizing thing about it. While zipping around with one ex, Gomez brazenly wore the jacket of another ex. Tesfaye's old jacket can clearly be seen breaking the wind for Gomez's (romantic?) bike ride.

That escaped was followed by a hockey game in which Gomez wore Bieber's New Jersey Devils jersey as they exited the rink.
