Ellen has once again found a story so impossibly sweet it almost makes us forget all the garbage she had to sift through to get it.
In the midst of Trump's recent Muslim ban,Secret Confessions (2025) Biyenan Episode 43 Ellen presented us with Nayyef and Btoo, two former Iraqi soldiers who met while enlisted and fell in love. Iraq's rampant homophobia forced them to keep their relationship a secret--if anyone were to find out they were gay, they would "either get tortured or killed."
SEE ALSO: Actors' acceptance speeches at SAG awards turn into protest against Trump Muslim banAfter his work as an English translator put him in danger, Nayyef applied for asylum in America. Btoo was unable to receive the same asylum, and the pair was separated for four years. During their time apart, the two spoke through Skype every single day.
Now, the couple is married, living in Seattle and owns wedding pictures complete with flower crowns worthy of their own fan base.
Ellen presents the couple with a surprise at the end, and their reactions are so pure it is powering us through this day.
