Nature and Mother"new beginnings" served as the inspiration behind Pantone's choice for 2017 color of the year: "Greenery."
The world authority on all things color announced its yellow-green pick on Thursday. The color, Pantone tweeted, "symbolizes reconnection we seek with nature & all."

In a statement posted to Pantone's website, Leatrice Eiseman, executive director of the Pantone Color Institute, wrote:
"Greenery bursts forth in 2017 to provide us with the reassurance we yearn for amid a tumultuous social and political environment. Satisfying our growing desire to rejuvenate and revitalize, Greenery symbolizes the reconnection we seek with nature, one another and a larger purpose."
Greenery follows 2016's picks of Serenity and Rose Quartz, a pair selected for its calming tones and allusion to a growing call for blurred gender lines.
