Netflix finally won an Oscar for the 40-minute documentary The Watch Dark Desire Season 1 OnlineWhite Helmets, although the director, Syrian cinematographer Khaled Khatib, was reportedly denied entry to the U.S. at the last minute.

The group, which was also nominated for a Nobel Prize in 2016, issued a statement in which the founder, Raed Saleh, says the film "helped show the world what is happening in Syria:"

However, he added that the group is "not happy to do what we do".
"We abhor the reality we live in. What we want isn't support to continue, but rather support to end this work. We hope this film and the attention helps move the world to act to stop the bloodshed in Syria," he said.
