Apple's new tvOS 26 has a very cool feature you may have Watch The Heirs Onlinemissed in yesterday's news onslaught that was the WWDC opening keynote.
If you're not familiar with it, Apple Music Sing is a feature in Apple Music on the iPhone, iPad, and Apple TV 4K, introduced in 2022, that lets you sing along to a song's lyrics.
On the iPhone, the feature isn't particularly advanced; it boils down to the ability to turn down a song's vocals while reading its lyrics in real-time.
However, in tvOS 26, which just became available as a developer beta, Apple has taken Sing a little further with several new features. Most importantly, you can now use an iPhone as a hand-held microphone, and have your voice amplified and reproduced alongside the music. Yes, just like a real karaoke session.
Others can join in with their iPhones too, even without an Apple Music subscription, as long as they have an iPhone 11 or later, running the latest iOS.
You can sing along to a tune even if you don't know the language; a feature called Lyrics Translation and Pronunciation will guide you. It's only available for select songs and in a handful of languages; for a full list, check the fine print here.
