It revealed that a staggering 1.5 million young people have been bullied online within the past year and two out of 10 were bullied every day.
Bullying authors are most prolific on Sunday, followed by Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, according to the study.
While politics is the topic most likely to receive bullying remarks, other subjects such as sport and food also rank quite high.
There's a striking difference between male and female trolls, according to the research.
Female trolls tend to use insults related to intelligence (dumb, stupid), appearance (fat, ugly) and derogatory animal terms (bitch, chicken). Conversely, males were more likely to use homophobic insults.
The insults related to intelligence and appearance also account for the majority of insults on Twitter.
"The Internet is a powerful tool for connecting people, however it now means that it is possible to experience abuse from somebody anonymous or who you have never even met," Liam Hackett, Founder and CEO of Ditch the Label says.
"It’s important not to vilify those who use the internet to send abuse. Rather, we should be trying to understand the root issues.” Hackett continued.
