Ugh,Watch Dark Fantasies (2010) whatever, chocolate is fine. But why does it have to dominate allthe major holidays? Can't the savory fans among us get some love?
SEE ALSO: Happy Easter, let's turn up! Gin & tonic Easter eggs are real and they look ridiculously goodFood blogger Annem Hobson is sick to death of chocolate being the center of attention. She's created the ultimate Easter egg—they're called "Cheester Eggs"—to give chocolate Easter treats a run for their money. They're made from a solid block of cheese. And, unlike chocolate Easter eggs, these eggs aren't hollow in the middle. Cheester Eggs are made in collaboration with independent artisan cheese company Wildes Cheese from a "specially devised, unique recipe" using unhomogenized cow's milk and vegetarian rennet. It's based on the company's Napier cheese—a crumbly, hard cheese with a creamy texture and slightly sharp flavor.
"Chocolate is okay, but it’s a little boring, and frankly I’m sick of seeing it dominating key retail periods," says Hobson. "Cheese is what excites me, so I’m thrilled my plans for a Cheester Egg have finally hatched and that the Cheese Advent Calendar is becoming a reality."Cheester Eggs are available for £14.95 online or at Broadway Market, Alexandra Palace Market or Myddelton Road Market in London. Alas, if you're not a UK resident, you won't be able to get your hands on a Cheester Egg. Make due by nibbling a nearby block of cheese into an egg shape.
